NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING AND FILING OF SPECIAL ASSESSMENT ROLL
Villages of Silver Lake Street Lighting Special Assessment District
The Township Board of the Township of Cannon, Kent County, Michigan, has received petitions to create a special assessment district and levy special assessments for the purpose of defraying the annual costs of electricity for street lights within the Villages of Silver Lake Development (the "project").
The Clerk has determined that the petitions have been signed by the record owner of all the property constituting the tentative special assessment district described below, and the Township Board has resolved its intention to proceed on the petitions pursuant to Public Act 188 of1954, as amended, to undertake the project and the special assessments.
The Township has tentatively designated the "Villages of Silver Lake Street Lighting Special Assessment District"(the "District"), consisting of the lands comprising the Villages of Silver Lake Planned Unit Development. The District is currently assigned Tax Parcel numbers 41-11-10-429-001 through -032, and is located in the area northof Greenbrier Drive NE and west of Young Avenue NE. Plans and estimates of costs of the project are on file with the Township Clerk for public examination.
The Township Supervisor has made and certified a special assessment roll for a portion of the proposed Special Assessment District consisting of lots 1 through 32 of the Plat of Villages of Silver Lake Kent County Condominium Subdivision Plan No. 1184 as recorded or to be recorded in the Office of the Kent County Register of Deeds, setting forth the relative proportion of the cost of the project which is to be levied in the form of special assessments against each benefited lot and parcel of land in that portion of the Special Assessment District. The special assessment roll has been reported to the Township Board and is on file with the Township Clerk at the Township Hall and may be examined during regular business hours.
Due to the nature of the project, periodic redetermination of costs will be necessary, without a change in the Special Assessment District. Such redeterminations may be made without further notice to record owners or parties in interest in the property.
The Township Board of the Township of Cannon will hold a public hearing on Monday, March 10, 2025, at the Cannon Township Center, located at6878 Belding Road, Rockford, Michigan, during the regular Township Board meeting commencing at 7:00 p.m. At that hearing, the Township Board will hear and consider any comments or objections to the petition, the proposed project, the proposed Special Assessment District, the special assessment roll, or any other matters relating to the project or special assessment proceedings.
AN OWNER OR PARTY IN INTEREST IN A LOT OR PARCEL OF LAND SUBJECT TO A SPECIAL ASSESSMENT MAY FILE A WRITTEN APPEALOF THE SPECIAL ASSESSMENT WITH THEMICHIGAN TAX TRIBUNAL WITHIN 30 DAYS AFTER THE
DATE OF CONFIRMATION OF THE SPECIAL ASSESSMENT ROLL, BUT ONLY IF THE OWNER OR PARTY IN INTEREST APPEARS AND PROTESTS THE SPECIAL
ASSESSMENT AT THIS HEARING. An appearance may be made by an owner or party in interest, or his or her agent, in person, or, in the alternative, an appearance or protest can be filed with the Township by letter prior to the hearing, in which case, a personal appearance at the hearing is not required.
This notice was authorized by the Township Board of the Township of Cannon.
